Using a Zero Waste Pop-Up

There are some zero waste shops popping up around the country and they enable you to go and fill up your own containers without having to use extra plastic and other waste. I had been looking to do this for a while and found one near me called Cupboard Love. This lady travels to a few venues around Ipswich, Kesgrave, Woodbridge, Framlingham and Rendlesham in her van which has been kitted out to dispense the products.

I took some old ice cream tubs and yoghurt pots to her pop up shop at Kiln Farm nursery in Kesgrave to pick up some food supplies and gifts and it was all very easy. I only needed a few things this time but will make a note to go back when I need other things that she supplies. This time I got pasta, oregano, raisins and muesli as well as some things from the selection of personal care items that she carries.

She also has an online shop where you can place orders and either have them delivered or pick them up from certain locations at different times in the week.

So if you are looking for plastic free food and cupboard items then definitely give her a try and save at least some plastic going to landfill.

I’m sure there are other shops around the country opening up so just search for plastic free or zero waste shops. Hopefully the supermarkets will also catch on a bit more but it is good to support local entrepreneurs who are doing their bit to save the planet and help the environment.
